Humility

1 Peter 5:5&6- Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another...humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God.

What would it look like for a church, all of it, to clothe itself with humility toward one another? What would it look like for a church, all of it, to humble itself under the mighty hand of God?

The major difference would be the dramatic decrease in personality struggles. All the he said/she said, I want this, and even threats would decrease. The church would stand firm in the faith instead of standing firm on the personality of leaders, the size of the budget, or the success of a particular ministry. Humility says the church is not about programs, budgets, or personalities but about faith, obedience, and standing together against the devil for the glory of Christ.

Father, make me humble and use me to set the example of humility in my church. Bring humility to Mambrino Baptist Church; may each one of us clothe ourselves with humility toward each other. Remove needless and harmful division. Raise up elders who will shepherd the flock willingly and joyfully. Raise up a church body ready to worship, serve, and live joyful lives in Christ. God, you can do amazing things. I pray you do amazing things in us.
