As I was reading today and thinking about the condition of Judah, the reform of Josiah, and the subsequent fall of the nation I could not help but think about the loss of Scripture. The king didn't know God's word. The people didn't know God's word. The priests didn't know God's word; for crying out loud that is ridiculous. The had found something better. They had filled up their lives with other things. The word of God didn't matter to them. May we return to a love for God and an appreciation of the Bible.
God, as we gather today as Your people give us a respect for Your word. Call us back to faithfulness where we are lacking. Give us strength to remain faithful where we are honoring You. You have revealed Yourself to us through Scripture in the power of the Spirit. Meet with us today. Show us the importance place of Scripture.
